The government of Vietnam has been increasing repressions and harassment toward Catholic youths and activists

To Whom It May Concern,
The government of Vietnam has been increasing repressions and harassment toward Catholic youths and activists in Vinh, a city within Nghe An Province, Vietnam.  Numerous of “kidnapping-style” arrests have occurred in July and August of this year.  These Catholic youths have been active in the church and in charity activities, such as Catholic Association of Professionals and Businessmen, candidate of Vinh – Thanh Seminary, journalist of the Congregatio Sanctissimi Redemptoris, attendants of Prayers for Justice, Truth and Peace candle vigils, peaceful demonstrators for anti-Chinese invasion schemes, members of John Paul II Catholic Group of Pro Life, writers of Media of The Truth, and member of Vinh Support Group of Bottle Recycling, etc …

They are :

Dang Xuan Dieu

Ho Duc Hoa

Nguyen Van Oai

Tran Huu Duc

Dau Van Duong

Chu Manh Son

Nguyen Van Duyet

Nguyen Xuan Anh

Le Van Son

Thai Van Dung

The Vietnamese polices, both with uniforms and undercovers, had kidnapped these patriotic Catholic youths, without any warrants or any legal documents.  According to the laws, such arrests are serious violation of Due Process of Law toward Vietnamese citizens.  The families of these victims are very concerned about their health and whereabouts.

We urge you to pressure the government of Vietnam to release these Catholic youths immediately and unconditionally.  Vietnam government must respect Vietnam laws, international laws and commitment to respect human rights of their citizens.

Thank you very much for your attention and support.

Respectfully,
